Located at 412 County Street, New Bedford, MA. For over 50 years the Advocacy Resource Center of Greater New Bedford had been advocating on behalf of individuals with developmental disabilities.
With the merger between ourselves, the Arc of Greater Fall River and the Arc of Bristol County we have formed an organization that will assure the rights and dignity of individuals with developmental disabilities for the next 50 years.
Information and Referral
Not sure where to turn? Need help in finding the resources you need to help your child? Let us help find what you need.
In-Home Visits and Assessment
We come to you, listen to what you and your family need and, together, determine the course of action to help your child.
Parent Support Groups
It is important that our families not feel alone and isolated. We offer parent support groups that give them the opportunity to learn from others and to share your experience.
Special Education Advocacy
The special education laws are both complex and subject to interpretation. In spite of everyone’s best efforts sometimes a child needs a knowledgeable advocate to help everyone decide on a plan that will be in the best interests of a child. Our family advocate can help negotiate an individual educational plan that will meet your child’s needs.
Adult Family Care
Adult Family Care (AFC) offers area residents who are eligible for MassHealth and are either aging or diagnosed with a disability, to continue to live with their families or with host families in their own communities.
AFC provides a unique family-centered living experience aimed at providing participants with full inclusion in family and community life.
As an AFC provider you will have access to 24/7 on call emergency staffing, regular care manager and nursing visits and emergency and non-emergency respite care. You receive on-going training to include CPR/First Aide and a tax free cash stipend to help you care for your loved one.
